Job Description:

Special note from client: Any profiles that only have Azure DevOps experience will be declined.

Must Haves:

  •  5+ Azure administrator and Networking experience- not just Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure services -This includes virtual machines, storage, networking, databases, security, Front gate , CDN, Azure ASE and other core Azure services)
  • PowerShell and Azure CLI
  •  Networking expertise: Understanding of networking concepts like IP addresses, firewalls, and load balancing is crucial.
  • Linux and Windows administration

Overview:

  • The project is looking for a contractor with real-world experience who is familiar with Azure across many platforms. This is very important, and the client will drill them on this, so that is why the project is being very particular about who is selected. The contractor will need to use their experience and knowledge to troubleshoot network issues to pinpoint the root cause of a problem to be able to resolve tickets they receive.

  • This will require working with different app teams to resolve issues. This person will be an onshore lead who will work with a small onshore and offshore team, totaling 4-5 people. Coverage is required 24 hours a day, so there will be times when they will be on-call. These on-call times will be divided among the offshore and onshore teams with more coverage required during the holidays that drive retail sales. The onsite requirement stands as Tuesday & Wednesday each week. Past candidates were declined because they supplied textbook answers but were not able to explain a situation they had encountered in their career.
  • Points to consider in summary:
  • Contractor will be fielding tickets to troubleshoot app issues. They will need to have extensive experience as an Azure Dev Ops with hands-on knowledge of various tools. This is not the same as a Desktop Support Analyst (DSA candidates will automatically be declined).
  • Contractor will use their experience to drill down the issue to its source and work with other support teams across the company to solve the problem. They will be part of a full support model.
  • This person will be an onshore lead working with an offshore team. Onshore and offshore teams will total approximately 5 people.
  • The contractor will work a normal work week with Tuesday and Wednesday required onsite. They will also be expected to rotate on call with the rest of the team.
  • Number of tickets will not be huge because the client is migrating from Azure to AWS
  • Because the client is a retailer, holidays may require more coverage.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts: This includes familiarity with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) models.
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure services: This includes virtual machines, storage, networking, databases, security, Front gate , CDN, Azure ASE and other core Azure services.
  • Experience with scripting languages: PowerShell and Azure CLI are essential for automating tasks and managing Azure resources.
  • Networking expertise: Understanding of networking concepts like IP addresses, firewalls, and load balancing is crucial.
  • Linux and Windows administration: Familiarity with both operating systems is beneficial as many Azure services run on these platforms.

Soft Skills:

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills: Azure platform engineers need to be able to troubleshoot issues and identify root causes.
  • Communication and collaboration skills: They need to effectively communicate with developers, operations teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn: The cloud landscape is constantly evolving, so the ability to learn new technologies and adapt to change is essential.
